To the Workplace Literacy Discussion List,
I'd like to introduce myself as a new member of this listserv. My name is
Donna Price and I'm the VESL/Technology Resource Instructor at the San Diego
Community College Continuing Education program. We have a large ESL
program, about 25,000, and integrating technology and "contextualized
learning" (VESL) is a big part of our program.
I also attended (along with Chris Tombari from the Spring Institute) the
Bridges to Opportunity Conference at LaGuardia Community College. I really
got a lot out of the conference at LaGuardia (professionally and
personally). It was wonderful connecting with so many people that I hadn't
seen for a long time and meeting people who had the same goals as I. I'm
especially interested in getting VESL curricula housed in one place so that
we don't have to recreate curriculum that has already been developed. In
case you don't know about this resource, there is one place that I know of
where you can order VESL curriculum: The VESL/Workplace Clearinghouse
Catalog. You can order it by e-mailing Jeanine Eberhardt veslwkpl at otan.us
or calling 619-388-4941.
I also encourage you to submit curricula to the clearinghouse if you have
any that are not already included.
I want to thank Donna Brian for putting so many excellent resources on this
listserv.
