Welcome Leonard,
I am sure Donna will help you navigate the site where you will find past
discussions and a lot of advice, projects, tools, resources, and
everything you need to write the proposal. It has been very helpful to
me, and I take this opportunity to say thanks to the site moderators and
the contributors.
We just concluded a 12-week ESL workplace training for a company here in
Chelsea, MA, and I would like to ask everybody your experiences in
dealing with employers when renewing a training contracts. I see ESL
training as a long-term project, because learning a language can not
bring visible results in only 48-hour instruction. However, some
companies still want to see results immediately from their entry-level
employees who most of time have literacy issues in their own language.
Thanks,

Subject: [Workplace 501] Workplace Literacy
Hello to All List Members,
I am new to the list and have been charged with writing a pilot proposal
to begin offering Literacy Services, mainly ESL, on site with many of
the employers we currently work with here in NYC. I am certainly glad
to see that this is a discussion that has been on the minds of many of
you on the list serve but, I would love to know if anyone on the list
has a model that is currently working that they would be willing to
share with me as I begin to work on this issue. If there is such a
document of even bulleted pointers about implementation, service models,
employer buy-in and investment, curriculum development, etc that would
be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Leonard E. Battle
