Dear Lloyd,
I cannot thank you enough for sharing the presentation, report and
documentation with me. It was invaluable to my ability to create the
workplace literacy pilot. It is always an effective use of time to seek
out best practices rather than reinventing the wheel. If I find that I
have more questions I will give you a call. Thank you once again.

Leonard,
We at Creative Workplace Learning (CWL) have been conducting English as
a Working Language programs in businesses for close to 20 years. CWL is
a subsidiary of Continuing Education Institute (CEI). CEI received 3
National Workplace Literacy grants from the US Department of Education.
All included EWL classes. Two of the grants were in healthcare and the
3rd was for manufacturing. I am attaching for your information a power
point presentation which describes the methodology we use; a report on
an evaluation of an EWL program in a distribution center; and an article
from the Boston Globe's on line publication - bostonworks.com. I would
be very pleased to answer any questions you might have and to offer my
assistance.

Subject: [Workplace 501] Workplace Literacy
Hello to All List Members,
I am new to the list and have been charged with writing a pilot proposal
to begin offering Literacy Services, mainly ESL, on site with many of
the employers we currently work with here in NYC. I am certainly glad
to see that this is a discussion that has been on the minds of many of
you on the list serve but, I would love to know if anyone on the list
has a model that is currently working that they would be willing to
share with me as I begin to work on this issue. If there is such a
document of even bulleted pointers about implementation, service models,
employer buy-in and investment, curriculum development, etc that would
be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Leonard E. Battle
