Hi Lloyd This resource isn't from the US obviously but does take new providers through the process of becoming a workplace literacy provider Obviously some parts will be different for your context but the process is generally the same Hope it is useful see http://elearning.workbase.org.nz/course/view.php?id=11&username=guest ypou might want to check out the workplace setting on the New Zealand Literacy Portal too - we have a lot of stuff on there from NZ and other countrioes as well including Australia, UK and Canada as well as the US see http://nzliteracyportal.org.nz/Workplace/ Regards Susan Reid Manager, Learning and Development Workbase New Zealand Centre for Workforce Literacy www.workbase.org.nz ________________________________ From: workplace-bounces at nifl.gov on behalf of Battle, Leonard Sent: Sat 16/12/2006 7:58 a.m. To: lloyd_david at creativeworkplacelearning.org; The Workplace Literacy Discussion List Subject: [Workplace 510] Re: Workplace Literacy Dear Lloyd, I cannot thank you enough for sharing the presentation, report and documentation with me. It was invaluable to my ability to create the workplace literacy pilot. It is always an effective use of time to seek out best practices rather than reinventing the wheel. If I find that I have more questions I will give you a call. Thank you once again. Regards, Leonard E. CWL is a subsidiary of Continuing Education Institute (CEI). CEI received 3 National Workplace Literacy grants from the US Department of Education. All included EWL classes. Two of the grants were in healthcare and the 3rd was for manufacturing. I am attaching for your information a power point presentation which describes the methodology we use; a report on an evaluation of an EWL program in a distribution center; and an article from the Boston Globe's on line publication - bostonworks.com. I would be very pleased to answer any questions you might have and to offer my assistance. Lloyd David, EdD. I am certainly glad to see that this is a discussion that has been on the minds of many of you on the list serve but, I would love to know if anyone on the list has a model that is currently working that they would be willing to share with me as I begin to work on this issue. If there is such a document of even bulleted pointers about implementation, service models, employer buy-in and investment, curriculum development, etc that would be most appreciated. Thanks, Leonard E.
