Hello Workplace Discussion List members,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the New
Year. I am new to the list and I wanted take a moment to introduce myself.
My name is Kristin Ekkens. I am the director of the Customized Workplace
English (CWE) Program with the Kent County Literacy Council, a non-profit
organization in Michigan. We are a fee-based program that provides
customized and non-customized ESL, ABE, Basic Skills, and Accent
Modification to employees in a variety of industries. Our organization has
been serving the West Michigan community for over 20 years, and we have been
focusing on workplace education for more than six years. Since 2001 we have
served over 35 companies and counting!

I am also in the process of completing an MA TESOL from Michigan State
University (May '07). While doing research for my thesis on evaluation and
assessments in workplace education programs, I came across this list and
decided to subscribe. Although I have only been a member for a few weeks,
the discussion and suggestions have already helped me with my research. I
wish I had joined much earlier!

Thank you for the useful links, and I am eager to contribute where I can to
the discussion.

Sincerely,

Kristin Ekkens
