Hi Chris I know these are UK resources and not US but they may still be useful ignore the references to the UK literacy curriculum http://www.dfes.gov.uk/readwriteplus/embeddedlearning/searchresults.cfm?setting=retail&sett_title=Retail http://www.bbc.co.uk/skillswise/numbers/measuring/money/game.shtml hope they are of some use or at least give you some ideas kind regards Susan Reid Learning and Development Manager Workbase New Zealand Centre for Workforce Literacy www.workbase.org.nz www.nzliteracyportal.org.nz ________________________________ From: workplace-bounces at nifl.gov on behalf of Chris Tombari Sent: Tue 9/01/2007 1:29 p.m. To: workplace at nifl.gov Subject: [Workplace 544] Cash Handling Resources Howdy y'all! (Just spent some quality time in Dallas avoiding the Denver blizzards and the accent is still carrying into my emails...) This listserv has been a fascinating resource. I'd like to pose my own question now. Does anyone have any ideas where I might find lessons related specifically to developing cash handling skills? Currently I'm looking into areas of basic financial literacy and basic math skills, but what about ways to teach people how to "count up" when giving change? Do restaurants and retailers do this training individually? Have VESL lessons been designed for working a cash register? Thanks in advance!
