[Workplace 567] FW: Welcome to the Workplace Literacy Discussion ListAngelic Parrett anp1 at psu.eduThu Jan 18 16:48:16 EST 2007
Thank you for the welcome Donna. I am the new trainer for the PA Win project with the Institute for the Study of Adult Literacy at Penn State. In this position, I will be assisting adult educators throughout the state with transitioning their workforce education classroom practices into the workplace setting. I will also be assisting those individuals with developing training plans that will ensure future fee-for-service contracts with area businesses. I've joined this discussion list with the hopes of obtaining ideas and resources that others have found useful in their workforce literacy practices. As the moderator of the NIFL Workplace Literacy Discussion List, I try to send a welcoming message to each new subscriber. You are joining after a cross list discussion with the English Language Literacy discussion list. With the experts that are regular members of both lists, we mined each others' expertise in thinking about English Language Learners in the Workplace. If you would like to review the posts that were part of this discussion, go to the Workplace list archives at http://www.nifl.gov/pipermail/workplace/2006/date.html and begin with Workplace post #404. It's always welcome when new subscribers introduce themselves to the "old" list members and say a little bit about their connections to workplace literacy and their reasons for joining the list. I hope you will take the time to let us get to know you in this way. This list has been really active in responding to requests of list members for information or help related to Workplace literacy, and members often share information about resources and upcoming events. It's a great place to ask a question or suggest a topic about which you would like to elicit others' thoughts. Please feel free to do that also. If you have any topics you would like to propose as a focus for a guest speaker, I would welcome your suggestions. And let me know of any other suggestions for the list that you have. Again, welcome!
