Many of you may already be aware that the 2007 COABE Conference will be held in Philadelphia March 26-28... www.coabe2007.org. On March 25, the day prior to the actual start of the conference, the Workforce Education Pre-conference will be presented. This year's Pre-conference, Adult Educators as Workforce Development Partners, will provide participants a unique perspective of how our field not only provides basic skills to our adult learners, but also plays an important role as a partner in workforce development. The day is full of presentations from state and national leaders, including our own discussion list monitor, Donna Brian. Our Keynote Speaker will be Scott Sheely, Executive Director of the Lancaster County Workforce Investment Board and a doctoral candidate in Adult Education and Workforce Development at the Pennsylvania State University. We'll also have plenty of time in the afternoon for networking and sharing of ideas during our round table sessions. Round table topics will all relate to our role as workforce development partners with topics such as: *Transitioning to Work, *Transitioning to Training, *Transitioning to Post-secondary Education, *ESL Instruction as Workforce Development Partners, *TANF Reauthorization and the Effects for Workforce Development Partners, *Work Readiness Certification, and *Working with Unions. If you haven't already done so, please make plans to join us in Philadelphia. KayLynn Hamilton
