Workplace Discussion List Members,

I have contacted the COABE presenters mentioned below, and am pleased to
report that all have responded and will be forwarding their materials
for your use. Be on the lookout for the handouts from the Titzel and
Davis presentation, "The National Work Readiness Credential," the Curry
and Nash presentation, "Addressing the Soft Skills that Adults Need,
Parts 1 and 2," and the Rymniak presentation, "Accessing Language and
Literacy Through Film"

There were several COABE sessions on work readiness credentials, and
heavy attendance at each. I attended two of the sessions as well as the
Workforce pre-conference where the credential was one of the topics of
discussion. Because of the interest expressed, I also requested the
handouts from Adrienne Glandon and Traci Lepinski's session on Ohio's
Career Readiness Credential, and they responded by sending them directly
to the list before I could even tell you they were coming! Thank you
Adrienne and Traci!

If there are other sessions that you would like handouts from, please
let me know and I will contact the presenters. Let's limit these to
those sessions with a tie to workplace literacy, however. The presenters
have all agreed to be available on the list for any questions you may
have about their topics also. Don't be hesitant about making the most of
their willingness! I think this is a good way to make the most of the
COABE conference for the Discussion List. One suggestion to make this
work well is to watch your subject line. You may need to change it when
you post to correspond to the contents of the post. This makes it much
easier to follow a discussion thread and also makes it possible for
readers to tell which posts they want to open and which to delete.

Subject: [Workplace 650] Please share COABE experiences

Colleagues,

Now that we are getting back to our regular routines and
responsibilities, I would like to encourage those of you who were able
to attend COABE to share what was most meaningful to you. What were the
issues raised? What resources were most important? What would you like
to bring to the discussion list for further discussion?

Also, if you presented a session and your handouts are in digital form,
could you send those to the list along with any of your comments?

One last way to share: If you noticed an announcement of a session (see
Workplace post # 635 in the archives at
http://www.nifl.gov/pipermail/workplace/2007/date.html
<http://www.nifl.gov/pipermail/workplace/2007/date.html> for a list of
the workplace sessions) that you were particularly interested in but
were unable to attend either because you did not get to go to COABE or
because the session time conflicted with another session you attended,
let me know which session it was, and I will try to contact the
presenter for his/her notes or handouts.
