[Workplace 948] Re: Free access to hundreds of one-minuteonlinejobsvideos

Hi David,

I would use the videos in a similar fashion as Susan in New Zealand and probably several others. I work with practitioners of adult education / workforce readiness programs in Rhode Island. These videos would be helpful with groups of practitioners when I do training around literacy needs as it relates specifically to workforce development/readiness. It offers another, perhaps more enjoyable method of delivery of professional development / training for a bunch of very busy people serving a wide audience of adult learners.

David,

Thanks for bringing us back to the intent and purpose of these e-mails.
In conversation we learn more and avoid the pseudo direction and impulse
of just becoming information junkies.

Hi Judi,

I suppose lots of emails IS annoying to some subscribers, and if I
had known how popular this would be I would have given everyone a
heads up, but I really didn't know what to expect. If it would help,
you could just delete the messages and wait for my summary of the
ideas posted at the end. Since they all have the same header, they
should be easy to recognize and delete.

Some people have written that they have guessed that my purpose was
to get a community of like-minded practitioners to share their ideas
about how to use a particular kind of resource. Two people have said
they loved this tease. It has produced over 20 good ideas so far --
which of course I will post back to the list, since that was my
purpose. No one has guessed my resource yet, despite their having
identified lots of other good online video resources -- none of which
I knew about. (Did you?)

I do not think we would have had all this idea-sharing if I had just
posted the resource. After all, Donna posts lots of great resources
every Thursday, and it is rare that anyone says a thing about them.

The National Institute for Litreracy discussion lists are intended
for discussion, not just for announcements and resources. I am hoping
after the folks who are interested have all replied that we can talk
about whether they have tried out these ideas and what they have
found in using them with all these video libraries that are being
suggested, including the one I am recommending.

I hope that won't be just more annoying email for you, but that you
will join in.

All the best,

David
