Dear Participant:

Please find the link to a complete Summit registration packet for
Technology Tipping Point: Integrating Technology-Enabled Learning into
Workforce Development . ITWD's Fourth Annual Summit will be held on
December 13th and 14th, 2007 in Washington D.C. Three plenary sessions
will be presented which highlight significant challenges facing
workforce development policy and programs, along with a lunch time
session focusing on funding streams for innovative technology training
opportunities. In addition, the second day will feature information
technology based policies and practices that can be implemented at the
state level, in order to better provide education and skills training
opportunities for the re-entry and correctional populations.

This Summit is hosted by the Sloan Center on Innovative Training and
Workforce Development (ITWD), housed at Rutgers University. ITWD is
dedicated to assisting state, county, and city government departments
and workforce investment boards to institutionalize IT based training
alternatives for non-college educated workers throughout the nation.
ITWD's work is focused on providing intellectual, technical, and
financial support and leadership to ensure that low-wage workers have
access to education and skills training tied to high-wage, high-demand
jobs. Central to this mission is our belief that workforce development
programs and policies must be crafted so that they attend to
individuals' family and work needs.

The audience at this Summit will be comprised of high-level public
officials, policymakers, advocates, corporate leaders, and academics.
Your participation at this event will help move forward our joint
efforts to utilize technological innovations to democratize access to
education and skills training.

The Summit includes important activities held over two days. I have
attached a preliminary agenda to this email. Highlights of the Summit
on December 13th include key panels on such issues as:

* Informing the next White House agenda on workforce development
and technology

* Using technology and the Internet to teach literacy skills

* The role of the private sector in technology and workforce
development

* Identifying funding streams to support technology-enabled
learning

In addition, we are happy to host a second day that focuses on
innovative uses of computer based learning in the corrections and
re-entry systems of the United States. To unwind, we are also holding
networking reception on December 13th at Washington DC's historic Union
Station.

In order to facilitate your attendance at this Summit, we are pleased to
waive the cost of registration, provide all Summit meals, and pay the
hotel costs for up to two nights at the Holiday Inn on the Hill.
Details on securing your room at the Holiday Inn on the Hill are found
on the registration form. We have a limited number of complimentary
registration spaces available, and they will be distributed on a first
come/first serve basis. Because of increased demand we have instituted
a new registration policy for our Summit. To ensure that the ITWD will
be able to waive the cost of your registration and hotel rooms you must
register by November 1, 2007. After that date, you can still register
for the conference; however you will be charged a registration fee, and
will be responsible for hotel room costs.
