[Workplace 1500] Talk Back Workplace Literacy Discussion ListPat Sawyer psawyer49 at sbcglobal.netSun Jul 20 19:01:59 EDT 2008
Hello Workplace Literacy Discussion List Subscribers, I have just finished reading Barbara Tondre's message to you and will add something important that I learned when Barbara, the Tennessee ESL teachers, and I were working with our first ESL class in the workplace. We thought we had covered all of the problems that might develop during this first experiment but had forgotten how important it is to continually monitor and evaluate the program in a professional manner. The excellent ESL teacher we had selected thought that her work was not helpful to the students and was discouraged at the end of the eight weeks experiment. The hotel manager where we had established our first ESL class thought that the class was extremely successful. Also, some of the students had even gone to the hotel manager and expressed their thanks for the ESL class. It was helpful to learn that the class had been successful, but we decided that in the future we should arrange for a periodic, professional evaluation that would include the ESL teacher, the workplace manager and the adult education director. I looking forward to our Talk Back session tomorrow. Pat Sawyer -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
