Workplace Literacy Discussion List Members,

Please note that the deadline for the submission of proposals for COABE
'09 has been extended to November 28!  I hope many of you have already
submitted workplace/workforce proposals, but this will give those of you
who haven't yet submitted a second chance to get that proposal in!

 

As you know, members of this list have been instrumental in planning a
Pre-Conference to COABE focusing on workplace/workforce issues.
Planning for that pre-conference is proceeding, and should result in
more people attending COABE with an interest in workforce/workplace
literacy efforts.  The Pre-Conference Committee would especially like to
encourage sessions on: how employers and workforce educators work
together; cooperative efforts of communities to raise the literacy
levels of the workforce in their community; credentialing including
stackable certificates; return on investment; transitional jobs
strategies; best practices in workforce/workplace programs; and funding
workplace literacy education.  If you can present on any of these or
other topics of interest to our list members, please prepare your
proposal and submit it in accordance with the invitation from the COABE
2009 instructions below.

 

We look forward to seeing many of you at the conference and the
pre-conference!  Plan now to attend and present!

CALL FOR PROPOSAL - COABE 2009- Deadline extended to November 28, 2008!


The Commission on Adult Basic Education (COABE), Kentucky Association of
Adult & Continuing Education (KAACE), and Kentucky Adult Education
Council on Postsecondary Education (KYAE) are pleased to announce a Call
for Proposals for the 2009 COABE national conference!

 

The conference - Winners Circle of Learning Champions - will be held in
Louisville, Kentucky on April 17-22. Workshop proposals must be
submitted by November 28th, 2008.

 

The goal of the Annual COABE National Conference is to provide best
practices and program guidance to adult basic education professionals.
No matter how you say it, Adult Education is Absolutely Essential!
Please consider sharing your expertise and experience in providing high
quality and effective adult basic education programs.  The workshop
proposal form has to be submitted on-line and can be found at:
