Colleagues: Recently on the Workplace Literacy discussion list I posted the
following three messages addressing the emerging focus on the importance of
non-cognitive skills for adult literacy education:

[Workplace 1942] President's CEA, FCE, and Non-cognitive Skills tsticht at
znet.com (Wed Aug 26 13:37:32 2009)

[Workplace 1941] Assessing Non-cognitive Skills in ABE tsticht at znet.com
(Tue Aug 25 13:21:28 2009)

[Workplace 1940] Cognitive and Non-cognitive Skills in ABE tsticht at
znet.com (Fri Aug 21 14:57:58 2009)

Now I have prepared a free workshop (see below) on cognitive and
non-cognitive skills that discusses professional wisdom and scientific
research on the development of cognitive and non-cognitive skills and
illustrates the practical application of these ideas using children’s
picture books by Leo Lionni. The workshop is appropriate for those
interested in workplace family literacy programs, adult basic education
programs, parenting programs, Even Start family literacy programs and early
childhood education.

As usual, I charge no fee for the workshop but sponsors need to pay my
travel expenses. For more information contact me at tsticht at aznet.net.
