Meaning Skills

Meaning components are those that relate more closely to cognitive verbal abilities. Instead of thinking about the rules of written language (decoding), the focus is on bringing oral language skills into understanding written language.

Meaning skills have to do with enlarging the listening (oral language) vocabulary, learning more about the world, understanding differences between the structure of oral and written communications, and learning how to understand text (strategies).
