When: December 2, 2005 -- 2:00-4:00pm (EST)
The 2003 National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL) highlights report is expected to be released on December 15, 2005. The highlights report, A First Look at the Literacy of America's Adults in the 21st Century, presents the English literacy of America's adults for the first time since the 1992 National Adult Literacy Survey (NALS). A companion document, Key Concepts and Features of the 2003 National Assessment of Adult Literacy, describes the assessment's key features and data types, each will be released on the same day.
Dr. Sheida White, the Project Director of NAAL, invites you to join in on a live interactive webcast on December 2, 2005. As the most recent adult literacy assessment conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the 2003 NAAL will provide the first assessment of the nation's progress in adult literacy since 1992. The 2003 NAAL will provide information about background factors associated with literacy, the skill levels of the least-literate adults, and the application of literacy skills to health-related materials. To learn more about the 2003 NAAL, visit the 2003 NAAL Website.
This webcast will provide a pre-briefing of the NAAL key features and what to expect from the first NAAL report. However, because this event will occur before the public release of the results, it will not include actual data.
